REQUEST FOR APPLICANTS FOR
THE POSITION OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Title:   Executive Director
Status:  Exempt Salaried
Location:  Calera, Alabama
Reports to:  President of the Board of Trustees
Starting Salary Range:   $48,000 to $60,000 based on experience & qualifications.
Work Hours: 40 hours a week, including Saturdays. Also willing to work occasional Sundays, holidays, and evenings as required for special events.
Summary:  The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of program areas and the implementation of the strategic plan of the organization. The Executive Director interfaces with local governments, organizations, and supporters in order to implement the organization’s goals.  Other key duties include strengthening volunteerism, developing events,  fundraising (including grant writing), and marketing. The candidate should be comfortable managing the business aspects of an operating tourist railroad and historic railroad museum.
Desired credentials:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or other field relating to museum operations.
• Experience in event management and promotion.
• Proficiency in compiling and operating within a budget.
• Experience and success in recruiting and motivating volunteers.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Licensed driver.
• Physical ability to mount and dismount rail equipment, walk on rough rail right of way, and lift minimum 40 pounds.
• Minimum 3 years of outstanding performance in similar tourist operation.
